Do you do affiliate marketing, or indeed any other type of online marketing? Then you’ll want an autoresponder to get your email marketing handled on autopilot!
The problem with autoresponder services is that they usually require a significant monthly fee, which can be hard to swallow when you’re just starting out as a beginner marketer online.
However, there are workarounds to this. It’s possible to get started with quite a few autoresponders for free, and delay any charges until your business is making money and you’re able to handle the expenses.
In this article, we’ll take a closer look at a few of the best free autoresponders.
An autoresponder is a piece of cloud-based software that can automatically send out sequences of emails to people who have subscribed with you. This is often based around a set of rules that you define for the autoresponder, and it can get very sophisticated and targeted as you split your list into different segments with their own email sequences.
As an example of this, you could send traffic from Facebook Ads to a landing page with a free PDF download. To get the download, users will first have to agree to sign up to your email list. From that point, you can then use an autoresponder to send them sequences of emails designed to market affiliate products or other offers.
There are plenty of other use examples of autoresponders, and they are an essential tool in any digital marketer’s arsenal.
One of the fastest growing autoresponder platforms out there at the moment, Sendinblue also adds the ability to do SMS marketing as well as email, which can be an extremely useful marketing angle to add to your repertoire.
Sendinblue very generously has a complete free plan, and it doesn’t even limit the number of contacts you can keep in your lists, which is unusual. The only limit they have for the free plan is that you can only send 300 emails per day.
In addition to that, most of the automation tools on the platform are also fully available on the free plan, which is excellent.
You can store as many email contacts as you want on the free plan. You’re just limited by how many emails you can send out each day.
Sendinblue is probably the best free option out there, but the 300 emails a day limit will eventually force you to upgrade to their paid option.
Mailchimp is one of the most popular and well-known email marketing platforms out there, and it also offers a high quality free plan.
Mailchimp has the advantage of being very well-designed, and it functions as a very useful all-in-one marketing solution, not just as an autoresponder service.
The downsides are that on the free plan your emails will contain some Mailchimp branding, and you won’t be able to create more complex autoresponder sequences without upgrading to a paid plan. On top of that, the main disadvantage is that they prohibit affiliate marketing on their platform, so if you want to do affiliate marketing, look elsewhere for an autoresponder!
This platform doesn’t actually have a free plan, but it does have a 30-day free trial, with the cheapest plan at $15 a month after that.
Although not having a completely free plan is an obvious downside, Getresponse is such a great autoresponder platform for affiliate marketers that it has to be included on this list. Also, even if you choose the cheapest plan when you need to pay, you’ll still have full autoresponder functionality.
As well as affiliate marketing being fully allowed on the platform, Getresponse also has some fantastic landing page building tools, and they will also host your landing page as part of the deal. Their live chat customer support is also quick to respond and available 24/7 to help you with anything that gets you stuck, which is a big help for beginners.
AWeber is one of the longest running autoresponder platforms out there, and it is very popular in the affiliate marketing community, due to its flexibility and ability to drill down into detail.
Just like Getresponse, AWeber doesn’t have a free plan but rather a 30 day free trial. It’s also quite pricey, with the cheapest plan at $19 a month for only 500 subscribers.
With that being said, AWeber is a very sophisticated platform and it has some very powerful tools to help you segment and automate in interesting ways.
While it’s not technically free as it’s a 30 day trial, we’d highly recommend AWeber to any marketers with a bit more experience who want to do more with their email automations.
MailerLite is a bit newer to the autoresponder scene, but is rapidly gaining popularity. It also has a full free plan, which is great for beginners.
The best feature of MailerLite is that there is no limitation on the free plan. You can make full use of all the tools, including A/B testing of emails and landing page solutions. Sending limits are also flexible, as instead of being limited to a daily number, you are allowed to send 12,000 emails per month. If you want to blast a large amount in one day, you can do that!
As a downside to the free plan, just like Mailchimp you’ll have to put up with MailerLite branding on your emails. Also, once you reach 1,000 email recipients, you’ll have to switch to $15 a month.
So there you have it! If you’re thinking of getting started with some email marketing automation through the use of an autoresponder, then don’t let cost be a barrier! You can easily achieve enough on a free plan to get your business going, and once you’ve got some revenue coming in, upgrading to a paid plan won’t feel so bad at all! Happy emailing.
