What is WP Engine?wp engine discounts

WP Engine is a WordPress hosting service that provides brands with cutting edge technology to drive their businesses faster. As a leading managed WordPress hosting solution, the company is currently based in Austin, Texas.

Founded in 2010, the company has 120,000+ customers in more than 140 countries worldwide. As the platform of choice, it powers more than 500,000 WordPress sites. This means that 5% of online visits are to a site hosted at WP Engine.

Simply put, WP Engine offers a safe and secure digital experience for WordPress site owners.

Features of WP Engine

Let’s face it. Hundred and twenty thousand customers from 140 countries worldwide cannot be wrong. There must be something unique about WP Engine that makes it the best choice for small, medium and large businesses running WordPress.

Here are the top features of WP Engine

Small, Medium and Enterprise Managed WordPress Solutions

Want to ensure that your business WordPress site is fast and more secure than your competitors? WP Engine offers WordPress hosting services to all businesses. As a WordPress site owner, you can take advantage of their powerful technology and services built to scale.

For starters, WP Engine configures its hosting for businesses to provide real-time security threat detection. As such, site owners can offer the best user experience to their customers. Not only that.

They can assure their customers that their data is secure. Apart from real-time security threat detection, you have a free Let’s SSL Certificate.

An SSL certificate is one of the ranking factors required by Google and other search engines. If your WordPress eCommerce site has an SSL certificate, it means your customers can transact without fear their data will get stolen.

EverCache Proprietary Caching Technology

WP Engine’s EverCache proprietary system is one of the most scalable WordPress architecture. Designed to prevent your site from slowing down due to a traffic spike, EverCache can handle more than 100 Million hits a day.

According to WP Engine, they have experienced business sites “surge to 15,000 simultaneous visitors within a short period.” Unlike other hosting services that may suffer from the spike, EverCache from WP Engine handles it without compromising page speed.

The secret behind EverCache caching technology is the custom code developed by WP Engine engineers. The code connects WordPress events to WP Engine’s super-fast front end Nginx-based systems.

As such, WP Engine is always fast and scalable at all times.

Global Content Delivery Network

WP Engine offers access to MaxCDN servers. In fact, it offers CDN in all its plans. The integrated and fully managed CDN improves caching and page load times. How? It serves static content for your online visitors.

As such, no additional server requests. This means that every byte delivered to a requesting browser originates from the closest servers. For example, your online visitors in New Zealand will access static pages of your website from WP Engine CDN in Australia.

To enable CDN for the first time, WP Engine engineers recommend doing so during a low traffic period. Here is how to do it on WP Engine:

  • Login to your account dashboard
  • Click on “Sites” and select the product environment name
  • Click “CDN” and check the box on the right of your domain name
  • Save

Currently, WP Engine’s CDN servers are in North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. Remember to add SSL to your domain before enabling CDN on WP Engine.

StudioPress Themes and Genesis Framework

In 2018, WP Engine acquired StudioPress, a WordPress theme development company. StudioPress is famous for its Genesis Framework. The Genesis Framework is an Open Source Framework for Smart WordPress theme designs. Search engine optimized, all themes made using Genesis can aid your site in achieving top page rank on Google and other search engines.

The framework also supports Schema.org’s code. As such, you can output microdata via your site’s code. This improves your site’s SEO. Not only that. With the framework, you can build sleek and professional WordPress themes.

When you subscribe to WP Engine, you will have access to more than 35 professionally designed StudioPress themes. You will also have access to the open-source Genesis Framework.

As such, your site can stand out from your competitors and help you gain an advantage.

Hassle-Free WordPress Migration

Don’t know how you can migrate your business WordPress site to WP Engine? WP Engine offers free WordPress site migration. As such, you can migrate from your old host to WP Engine WordPress hosting with ease.

To make this as easy as possible, WP Engine has partnered with BlogVault. Thanks to the partnership, WP Engine users have access to an automated WordPress migration plugin. The plugin provides a quick way to migrate your WordPress sites – files and database – with ease.

What this means is that your online visitors will not experience any downtime. They will continue browsing your WordPress site like any other normal day. Meanwhile, the plugin will be working in the background to export your database or replace domain values at WP Engine.

Automated WordPress Site Backups

Let’s face it. Data loss has serious financial implications for small, medium and large businesses. Yet, more than 75% of small businesses don’t have a disaster recovery plan in place. Based on study results, half of the organizations in the world have been targets of cyberattacks. Over 20% came from ransomware attacks.

To ensure your WordPress site does not suffer any downtime, WP Engine carries out nightly backups. This system is automatic and keeps your site backed up. In fact, it backs up your WordPress core files, images, plugins, themes, and databases.

In case something goes wrong, you can restore your site. You also have the option of making manual backups. This is important when you make changes to your site.

WP Engine Pricing

As a WordPress hosting provider, WP Engine offers several tiered plans. Each plan caters to a specific number of sites. As such, businesses can select what suits their needs, now and the future.

Let’s take a quick look at WP Engine’s pricing packages.

Is WP Engine Worth The Money? WP Engine Review

WP Engine offers fast, secure and scalable WordPress hosting solutions with reliable uptime. They also offer free SSL and CDN with all plans. As such, your site’s page load speed will always be fast. This means your online visitors will always have a great experience.

When it comes to pricing, it’s a bit steep especially for upcoming blogs and small businesses. Compared to similar plans offered by Hostgator ($5.95) and Go Daddy ($3.86), the pricing plans are not for everybody. Mind you, the three hosting plans are under shared servers.

Despite this, WP Engine offers solid performance, great customer support, and 99.9% uptime. If WP Engine pricing plans fit your budget, it’s a worthy investment.

All the best,

Ed

Hello Ed, I must say that this article is very helpful and informative. I had an experience with Wp Engine 2 years ago and I can confirm that it is one of the best hosting companies today. I am currently using BlueHost but I am not satisfied with its speed so I plan to return again on Wp Engine, it is a little bit expensive but definitely worth it.

WordPress is definitely the way to go.  They are the leading force in Website creation, I believe.  Their prices are good considering what they offer.  I am really glad that you were honest enough to put the price in with this post.  That shows the confidence you have in WordPress, and of course, for good reason!

I am currently using Word Press and i can say that i do it.  It simplifies so much of the online creation that literally anyone can do it.  The themes are laid out and ready to go for you to put content on, it’s easy.  For someone just starting to create a page I don’t think there is a better option.  Even an experienced person would be able to put something together in no time with how quickly the engine works.

Thanks for sharing this wonderful review. Hosting sites are quite much around on the internet today, but only a few can give a very credible service to its users. WP engine from your post is one I must give credit to for offering this wonderful service. The hosting of the site and offering security service to your site from cyber threats and also giving backup assistance just makes it outstanding.  I’ll inform others about their service so they can benefit from it .

    Hi Ed,

Thanks for for providing this WP Engine Review. I’m now in a position where I’ve been running my wordpress log for a couople of years now. The site has been sucesful and I’ve been happy with my hosting to date, I’m now in a position though where my site speed is beginning to noticably slow down.

I assume this will only get worse as my site expands in size, it sounds like with the cacheing and CDC that WP engine can provide a high speed wordpress solution. The migration tool sounds great as well, my site is currently hosted with Wealthy Affiliate; do you know if it possible to migrate from there?

    1. Ed

As long as you own  the site, you shouldn’t have a problem migrating it. Thanks for the comment.

Hey Ed, I like your site. I was brought  here to your page because of WPEngine and it’s review. Currently I have hosting accounts with Namecheap and TMDhosting. Have you used either of them? I’m trying to find a comparison of them against WPengine. What do you think about how they stack up against each other? I look forward to your thoughts on the hosting companies, thanks and have a good one.

Thanks for the comment Sean. I have not tried either of those providers, however I will certainly have a look at them and see if I can come up with a post.

Hi Ed. I appreciate your honest review. I have also been comparing WP Engine with other hosting companies that have shared servers for their basic plans, and WP Engine’s prices are bit steep. But I know the quality of their service is still superior. I also liked features such as free SSL and its fast architecture. Thanks for this review.

I have recently started my blog using WordPress. I didn’t know that so many sites were powered by WordPress. It’s good to know I’m with a good crowd. Something that I also learnt reading you post is that WordPress also has a hosting program. I liked the features it offers and I felt it’s affordable.

Thank you very much for such a great review,

WP engine is really a good hosting company and is better than many hosting companies but in my opinion there are companies that are better than WP in many aspects. first of all, this kind of pricing is extremely high $35 for only one website, however good they may be that price is too high. Compared to companies like Wealthy affiliate where $49 dollars is charged to host 50 websites.
